a thousand miles and poles apart
where worlds collide and days are dark
Elham has become the sort of Crown her predecessors dreamed she would be. She's absolutely the powerhouse behind their country; she's merciless and intolerant and unbothered by 90% of everything. She's an interesting contrast to her older sibling Azzam, who is soft and sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly. Elham is vicious as hell if push comes to shove and she's never afraid to throw hands on Azzam's behalf. She's exceedingly clever and makes a great politician because the doesn't mind the idea of manipulating people to get what she wants; in fact she does it quite often in day to day encounters, with only Azzam being spared. She wants Najaati to be a far more powerful country than they currently are so she's taking steps to improve their military, alliance regulations and economy. She's currently reinforced Najaati's status as a witch refuge by taking in witches more proactively and has hired a great number of them to work around the capital. She is by far suited to political work and unapologetic about her skills. She gets a thrill from wringing a good deal from another representative.
Earlier in the year she'd hatched a plan with the previous Crowns, her dad and grandmother, to replace Azzam as an heir. She loves Azzam terribly but understands that they are not a good political figure; her plan was to take the Crown from her grandmother and then find a new heir to replace their dad when he retired. They should have had plenty of time to achieve this but when the plague came through Najaati it killed them both and Elham and Azzam were abruptly thrust into the position of Crowns themselves. Elham is coming to terms with it; she tries to help Azzam as much as she can and takes the majority of the burden of leading upon her shoulders. She's very protective of him and only gets defensive when somebody's targeting him; otherwise threats will only make her laugh. She's headstrong but very politically cautious, encourages Azzam to tend to their gardens and strong-arms a better trade deal from Hechiz by herself. Most everybody initially assumes that Azzam is the brains of the operation, being the elder, but one meeting with Elham is enough to change anybody's mind.
