the planesIn total there are six (6) planes and the Desert. The God Plane, where the Old Gods and New Gods alike dwell; the Modern Plane, where Beauregard rules his criminal empire with a iron fist; the Melorian Plane, where the BHG Vibe Check cruises the universe; the Desert, which is not a plane at all but rather the arid space between them; the Bailian Plane, where magic still flows wild and free; the Valisen Plane, where the majority of my kalons live and breathe; and the Chevma Plane, which is an incomplete reflection of the Valisen Plane that diverged 4 generations ago and fully split 16 years back, when a massive decision created a fully separate plane to bear the consequence.

The God Plane can be visited only by old and new gods - saliros and their chevmas cannot gain access to the God Plane, and neither can demigod children unless they are escorted in by an actual god. The God Plane is very little like mortals imagine - it is not necessarily a place and more an existence. What is there is summoned by whatever deity desires it, so sometimes there is food or castles or anything else and sometimes there is simply them.
The Melorian Plane is what our world might look like years down the line; space ships and alien races and unbelievable technology. Earth stays the same but there are a number of planets and galaxies to explore and little of the story takes place in familiar settings. The light bends different here, so the Melorian Plane is centuries ahead of the Modern Plane. Saliros can visit here and appear to largely prefer it; it's easy to explain away their chevmas with all the other strange companions folks have and they can easily disappear from their plane for the rest of their lives.
The Desert is not a plane at all but is rather the space 'in between' the planes, and largely uninhabited. It is rarely purposefully entered but can be wandered into by any plane by accident; there are multitudes of doors that lead to it, holes in a graveyard, thin slivers in the darkest end of the woods. There are only a few mortals that actually live there though most people who visit don't ever get to leave. The gods frequently open these doors themselves to dispatch annoying mortals.
The Bailian Plane looks nothing like our world at all. It is an entirely different geography and ruled by a trio of queens called the Authority; it is wild with magic, that being the driving force behind all their inventions and cultural differences. The land has its own goddess, Bailia, but also worships the same gods the Valisian Plane has forgotten. Saliros cannot visit here; only the goddess Bailia can open doors to and from this land, and she will not allow saliros to enter. She does however occasionally let troublemakers wander into the Desert on their own accord.
The Modern Plane echoes our own world, with similar (or slightly enhanced) tech and societal expectations. The geography is the same as our world (for example, Beauregard and co reside in our regular Chicago). Saliros can visit here though largely they do not; it's far harder to hide in a world such as this, and difficult to explain the continued presence of an animal friend. The people here are not aware of the other Planes whatsoever.
The Valisen Plane is the largest and most populated plane. It is a sort of medieval setting, with little to no tech. The society is a little different, in the sense that magic exists, but different countries have different politics. Saliros are most common here as this Plane is the closest to their own and they can get away with being witches and familiars. The vast majority of the old religion has been lost, and few countries believe in any of the old stories these days.
The Chevma Plane is a corrupt reflection of the Valisen Plane. The geography is the same but the tech was significantly different (closer to the Modern Plane). A virus-fueled apocalypse happened that basically wiped out 98% of the population that started about 16 years ago; those left mentally intact fled to other worlds if they could. Some of the people infected lost their chevmas and their minds but stayed alive - these people are notoriously dangerous and should be kept quarantined to the Chevma Plane.
