you in the chaos feigning sane
you who was pushed beyond what's humane
Tiercel has been in charge of his little brother for as long as he can remember. Eyas is one year his junior but Tiercel has always just been Older; expected to watch over Eyas, to keep him fed, to keep him safe. When they were orphaned and lived on the streets Tiercel was the protector and defender both, for he was bigger and older and Eyas was so small. The consequence of their hard childhood was that Tiercel grew up very young; he's responsible and quiet and levelheaded, never loses his temper but never got to experience anything truly childlike either. He tried to frame those experiences for Eyas but he's been grown up since he was four years old. They met Aubrey when Tiercel was 10 and it was Eyas who cornered the rather infamous thief, who begged Tiercel to ask Aubrey to let them be his apprentices. Tiercel has no real interest in thievery; he's good at being quiet and going unnoticed because of their time on the streets and he's frankly an incredible pickpocket for the same reason but he doesn't get the same kick out of it that Aubrey and Eyas do. The brothers almost always go on jobs together; Eyas is the lure and Tiercel the rod. He's constantly apologizing on Eyas' behalf despite his brother's complete disinterest in ever saying sorry himself.
Tiercel has a dry sense of humor and prefers deadpan jokes; he's so passive aggressive that it can be difficult to even tell when he's roasting you, though Eyas' ecstatic laughter and Aubrey's eyerolls will be indicator enough. He is definitely the mom friend; he's very paternal with anybody younger than him, and sometimes even with Aubrey when he harps on him to finish a meal or get a full night's sleep. Despite him being rather bored with thievery he's incredibly good at casing places and making feasible plans to get in and out. He's sort of become the brains of the operation since Aubrey picked him up but he still goes on jobs to keep an eye on his brother. He favors tactics over outright violence but has no issue with fighting somebody to protect his family. Tiercel is fairly withdrawn and often comes off as rude in conversation with strangers because he has no interest in befriending anybody else, so rarely puts genuine effort into speaking. The only time he really initiates a conversation is when he's dryly apologizing to somebody for something Eyas did, so they won't report his brother to the guards and get them on the guild's case.
