no one had to speak a word
for we all knew what the others learned
Blackbird was called to reap Kisosen, Saranyu and Malakbel a few years back. She hesitated when she saw the way the boys interacted with the numerous ghosts that surrounded them; mortals infrequently sensed ghosts at all, let alone showed the ability to hear and speak with them. The only compromise to not reaping them was taking them as her own and so Blackbird walked away with three apprentices in tow. The four of them now live in the desert in the interior of Najaati, where it's always been assumed that people could not survive. All three of the brothers have chunky silver rings that Blackbird infused with bits of her godhood so they could god-step with her; travel anywhere in the world instantaneously and survive the trip. They go wherever the ghosts are the loudest and help to bring them peace so they can move on. Malakbel is the youngest of the three and often jokingly called the 'little brother', which never fails to annoy him. He's also the one with the biggest temper; he's the loudest and the angriest out of the three of them and always will be. He has no brain to mouth filter and says whatever he wants whenever he wants, with little thought to his audience.
When Blackbird invited them to be her apprentices to spare them from death Malakbel was the only one who resisted. He was never interested in this life; although he doesn't mind the ghosts and helping them get justice he didn't want his whole life to be about that. He resents Blackbird for it still because despite her explanation that she could not let Bel leave, that it was her godhood keeping them alive, Bel doesn't entirely believe her. He's a loudmouth and he gets snappy with her a lot; Saran is always having to step in to calm them both down when their conversations devolve into a shouting match. Bel acts a lot like the oldest too, prone to shepherding his brothers and keeping them safe. He's very defensive over the both of them but especially Kisosen. He gets angry every time Kiso gets accidentally hurt, pacing back and forth yelling even while Saran sighs and patches him up. When Bel is in a bad mood he will try to pick fights with other people, even strangers, just to get his mind off of his temper. He gets frustrated with himself sometimes over how hard it is to keep an even head but he's just so angry no matter what he does. The only people who can really calm him down are his brothers. He'll listen to both of them no matter what sort of temper he's in, long after he tunes out everybody else.

and it's a long and winding road
but if you reap the seeds you sow
you'll see you're really not alone
