ruled by King Ganymede de Rossi A smaller country with a thin coast, Rossore is renowned for its unusual red soil and its numerous political assassinations. There is actually a word in their language, 'rosore', that means blood red. They trade primarily in agriculture, for their famous soil allows for exceptional crops of all species. Rossore's seasons are actually rather unfavorable - they have long, hot summers, and blips of spring and autumn. Their winters are just as poor, though usually some weeks shorter than the blistering summers. There are some inlets within Rossore that are shielded from the elements, and it is here that their rarest endemic flowers bloom. There is some profit in these flowers, though Rossore rarely sells clippings or seed. Their capital is Fiore and situated somewhat close to the southern coast. They specialize in basic staples, such as grain and corn, but have many individual farms that produce more exotic fruits and vegetables. |
Rossore has a large population that live in dozens of small villages scattered throughout the country, spread far enough apart to allow room for fields and farms.
Fiore especially is well known for their advances in medicine and science, and the castle itself has a medical wing that people far and wide apply to visit. The wing is ruled by Dr. Calliope Karahalios, a foreigner who has quickly found a home in Rossore. He was originally hired as the last royal family's personal doctor, but has since allowed anyone to come into the royal medical wing. As the years wear on and his reputation grows, more and more people from neighbouring countries ask to be admitted to Fiore's hospital for treatment. Calliope has individually made a number of advances in the medical field and dabbles in surgery as the need arises. He has a fearsome reputation. |
Rossore is traditionally a single ruler monarchy, with the spouse/s of the monarch considered more councilors than fellow leaders. The throne has historically been passed to heirs over spouse/s, though exceptions have been made for this rule for cases where heirs are nonexistent or too young. True Rossarian kings have a strange shiny birthmark somewhere on their body but assassinations are so commonplace that it has been generations since a king has had a genuine mark. Ganymede is the illegitimate son of one of the last king's allies, and inherited the throne after his birth family was wiped out only because of the royal birthmark on his thigh. His Sword and Dagger, world-famed bodyguards trained from childhood, have saved him from hundreds of assassination attempts since his ascension. The national language is Rossarian. |
