it's a different story for you and for me
go to the woods and see
When Fitcher was 15 years old him and his five brothers were cursed to be swans. They had 15 minutes a day that they could be human if they wanted but for six long years they were mostly birds. Their sister Islebill escaped the curse only by virtue of not being home at the time and became the sole heir of the Farrow House, a Brindillen noble house that is about as rich and powerful as the Maddox family. Islebill spent the six years totally silent and sewing magical shirts to revert her brothers permanently to humans, which was an idea suggested to her in passing by Goody for a laugh. She did succeed in not speaking and almost completed the shirts by the time she had to give them to her brothers; the back of Fitcher's hadn't been sewn shut, so while he became mostly human he kept the enormous wings from his other form. They are absolutely massive; he's still adjusting to the weight and size of them and is extraordinarily clumsy in tight quarters. Fitcher and Islebill were very close as children and she was distraught that she hadn't 'saved' him but this is the only way Fitcher could have ever possibly been happy. He loved being a swan and misses it a lot and having these wings lets him remember. He could theoretically fly with them but hasn't figured out the trick of it yet.
Now that his brothers are human again the Farrow House has filled back out. Their parents died shortly after the brothers were cursed; it's the seven of them is this gigantic manor relearning how to be around each other, and Fitcher trying to figure out how to exist in a house. His brothers have all thrown themselves into being human again but Fitcher still sleeps outside a lot and meanders through the woods for most of the day. He's very soft and sweet, soft-spoken and always kind. He is eager to help people and would literally give the shirt off his back if someone else needed it. He loves telling stories and 'secrets' that he 'borrows' from other people; never with bad intentions but just loves having different stories. Islebill and him are still very close but Fitcher is not close with his brothers, though there's no hard feelings between any of them, they're just too different. While they were birds Fitcher flew to the estate and visited his sister often, dawdling around in a small pond and just being together. He met Mercutio here, though the other boy had no idea the bird he was feeding was one of the infamous Farrow sons.

out in the storybook land are many leagues of the wild
wise and uncontainable as a windy-haired child
