I could tell you stories like the government tells lies
oh but no one listens any more
Quetz has never spent much time around people, and within a short conversation even a complete stranger can tell. She's wildly standoffish and has a difficult time feigning interest in anything; she spaces on when she's spoken to, her mind wrapped up in unrelated issues that she worries at like a sore tooth. She has little desire for human companionship; she will seek out Verbena but other mortals so barely tolerates. She will occasionally stop strangers in the Desert to help them to get home because she knows it pleases Verbena, but for the most part she spends her long days in the endless desert. She is always moving, going nowhere in particular, that endless wanderlust itch making it impossible for her to find somewhere to settle down. At the most she will spend two or three days somewhere, and then she's gone when no one thinks to look. She rarely visits the God plane though her family often comes to the Desert to see her. She oftentimes looks and sounds bored when speaking and her expressions and tonal shifts are frequently mild. She's restless but doesn't fidget, just looks a little wild around the edges when she's made to sit somewhere and keep still.
She is accompanied everywhere by two animals, a pinyon jay named Xicotenco "Xico" and and a coyote Huitzilin "Lin". These animals can speak and do often speak with her, though they are about as interested in other people as she is. When around strangers they act as 'regular' animals, as much as an unusual bird and a semi-tame coyote can. Quetz has garnered quite a mythology in her short desert life, and the people who return to their planes usually tell stories of her back home. Mostly she cultivates oases and grows the wildest plants she can dream up, and helps the animals she stumbles on. She usually has a number of wild animals accompanying her, much like her father Nudge, though it is only ever Xico and Lin who stay. Quetz is sharp-tongued, impatient and feels always in a hurry, though she is never going anywhere specific. She could not fathom living anywhere but as a nomad in the sands. She looks after Verbena, as she was the first human in a long time who had ever stayed, and as Verbena's influence over her strengthened Quetz reluctantly agreed to watch over Eltaninn and Coyotl as well.
