I know that I'm wrong
and now we're both sitting in silence
Three years ago, when Tolliver recognized the inevitably of his being the royal spymaster coming to light, he began to search for someone to secretly take his place. Ramille was his pick; an orphan with no other prospects, a quiet boy who kept to himself in the orphanage but was startlingly quick with words and hands alike. Ramille is a bit strange and often rubs people the wrong way but Tolliver has become unquestionably attached to the younger man. As Ramille grew up and Tolliver's job was outed among the castle staff Ramille stayed in the wings. Tolliver told everybody that he was adopting Ramille, which he did do, but nobody knows that Ramille is also now largely running the spy ring in his adopted dad's shadow. Although Tolliver is openly affectionate with the younger man Ramille has never fully reciprocated the spymaster's love. Tolliver doesn't really mind; he loves Ramille in a fierce, unapologetic way and it doesn't bother him that the boy doesn't say he loves him back. He knows some part of Ramille does because he always comes home, no matter the job he's assigned or how long he's gone.
Ramille is extremely good at both being a spy and managing Tolliver's other sources because he's uncomfortably good at reading and manipulating people. He's very emotionally detached so has no moral compunctions about manipulating people to his gain but this does in turn mean that he struggles with what other people might consider obvious moral problems. Ramille mostly tries to make decisions like Tolliver does, as Tolliver is his only real example of moralistic behaviour. He dabbles in assassinations when needs must but takes no joy in it; it's more of a job than anything he genuinely enjoys. Tolliver tries to keep him from these sorts of assignments as much as possible but sometimes the jobs overlap. Ramille is by far Tolliver's best spy; he's great at going unnoticed when he needs to and he is super observational. He has no real loyalty to Rossore itself but is devoutly loyal to Tolliver, who is in turn completely loyal to king Ganymede. Ramille is often around the castle but infrequently interacts with anybody else there. Calliope regards him with suspicion; Orpheus has been trying to befriend him for years but anytime he's cornered, even by big, harmless Orpheus, Ramille simply up and disappears. Ganymede has never seen hide nor hair of Ramille by the boy's choice.

I'll wrap myself around your cold shoulder
