It always comes as something of a surprise to meet Bee after meeting Nyiri. Bee has been with Nyiri for most of his childhood, and while some aspects of the man's personality have rubbed off on him, not a lot of it has. Bee is a great deal more sensitive than Nyiri ever will be, and not half as greedy or selfish as his adopted dad. He has little interest in material things, and is happiest when he's making someone else happy. He's terrible about giving everything he's got to whoever asks, and can get taken advantage of quite easily because he's so wholesomely trusting. He never seems to actually learn a lesson when it happens either. He's happy to go along with someone else's ideas and is glad not to be in charge, and is always obviously uncomfortable when Nyiri forces him into it by leaving the ship under his watch. But Bee loves Nyiri nonetheless, and he would trade the man for nothing. He doesn't wonder much about his biological family these days, as he considers Nyiri and his bird Kauket being all he really needs. He has no desire to try and find the people who sold him to pirates in the first place.
Nyiri rarely lets Bee accompany him into any pirate ports because he claims the boy isn't ready for it yet; but the truth is Nyiri is afraid that someone would try to do something to him, to hurt Nyiri by hurting Bee. Consequently Bee is left in charge of the ship more often than not when Nyiri is off selling something, and does well enough with that. The crew has gotten used to him being around now and considers his being in charge with easy affection. They don't bother the boy, and he insists on Nyiri giving everybody fair wages so frankly most of them prefer him. He does sometimes go with Nyiri into the parallel world, the one from which Nyiri came, but he doesn't particularly like it over there. Bee has got a great eye and small, clever hands, so he always comes up with something cool and bizarre when he looks; but the desolate world makes him uncomfortable, and he hates going more than a few steps from Nyiri's side when they're over there. He's somewhat mousy, soft-spoken and polite and well-mannered, and with Kauket by far the best part of Nyiri. He's as familiar with the gods as Nyiri is but likes them a great deal more than his dad does. He's become rapidly close with Levi and the pair spend most of their day together.
