after all of this time, after all of these seasons
after your one decision, to go to the water for reason
Orialas is as he was designed; he's the god of the seas, not a god of the seas. He's mercurial, flippant, emotionally distant and merciless. He's what the ocean might be if the ocean was a person, largely uncaring and compassionate in only the fleetest of moments. Orialas spends the majority of his time in the water, where he is most comfortable, but ventures inland occasionally when he can keep to rivers and lakes. He's hard to get a hold of and harder to pin down for a conversation and he has a terrible concept of time, of how long has passed from one day to another. He answers singularly to Zefiryn, and the rest of the gods have to ask for favors the old-fashioned way. He is closest to Nausicaa and by extension Rajentala, for one is rarely without the other when they come to his shores. Orialas can manifest anywhere in the world so long as he has water to draw from so it is not difficult for him to come when the pantheon has need of him. Orialas is one of the oldest new gods, only a short while younger than the twins, and has consequently lost a great deal of his concept of time. He can be content sitting somewhere for days if the water is lapping up onto his toes and the sun's nice.
Only recently has Orialas started speaking with Lisskadell, one of the youngest gods and with the powers most opposite to his own. They share a common interest in the sea, however; Lisskadell's new beau is one of the pirate captains Orialas is only peripherally aware of, the one who loves the sea the most when it is at its wildest. Lisskadell walks the beaches sometimes and talks aloud to Orialas even if he doesn't know he's listening, an action that has stumped the elder god when Lisskadell is so obviously the favorite of many of the others. Still, Orialas listens; he learns a great deal about humankind this way, watered down through one of his own. Orialas is mostly solemn, specializes in biting, passive aggressive sarcasm and slow to laugh. He's quick to anger but likewise quick to forgive; he remembers, but he does not hold a grudge. He's often rather expressionless and even when he is expressing something he's notoriously difficult to read. Despite being a new gold Orialas never totally took to the human form and looks decidedly inhuman when he visits with mortals. It's mostly the long golden whiskers but the mass of teeth in his mouth doesn't convince anyone.

when these sails go up mountains fade away
I'm finally free; now it's only the ocean and me
